Carolyn is the Director of Choral Activities at Galesburg High School, Galesburg, IL.  She received her BS in Business Administration from Oklahoma State University, BA in Music Education from Monmouth College, and an MA in Music Education from Western Illinois University.  She has toured and performed in Austria under the direction of Dr. Don Moses.  She has been a performing member of Nova Singers, the Black Hills Playhouse in South Dakota, and the Summer Music Theater at WIU.  She currently directs the Buchanan Community Chorus and is on the state board of the American Choral Directors Association.

 

Julie is a Clinical Social Worker with Serenity Hospice in Mercer County, counseling terminally ill patients and their families.  Julie received her BA in Social Work from Texas Lutheran University and her MSW from the University of Denver. She is currently working toward her ADN from Carl Sandburg College.  Over the years, she has enjoyed participating in the Galesburg Community Chorus and both choir and bells at Trinity Lutheran Church.  She is thankful to be able to witness and share her faith through this music ministry.

 

 

 

Laura teaches English at Knoxville High School.  Laura received her BA in Music Education from Monmouth College and her MA in English/Writing at Bradley University.  While at Monmouth College, she was a member of Concert Choir, Vocal Jazz & Sound of Five.  In addition, she appeared in various plays and musicals.  Her favorite roles include Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar and the Witch in Into the Woods.  A poet at heart, Laura has received numerous writing awards throughout college graduate school.
 

Hillary Hoffman is employed with the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services, Division of Child Support Enforcement.  Hillary was a charter member of Nova Singers, a professional vocal ensemble based in Galesburg, for 16 years and served as its manager for 8 years.  She has been an active board member of the Galesburg Community Choir, Nova Singers and the Knox-Galesburg Symphony.  She is extremely thankful to have the Silk Cords as dear friends and partners in this music ministry.
