Us Requests Locations History of the Silk
Cords
On October
7, 2000
Silk
Cords formed their quartet
almost by accident
as a means of helping
Hillary fulfill a promise she made to provide music for the wedding of
a friend's daughter. Shortly after their wedding performance, the
Music Director at Faith United Presbyterian Church in Monmouth, inquired
if the quartet would be able to perform several sacred pieces for a
Sunday morning worship service. On November 12, the
Silk Cords
performed at the church - their first worship service. In January, 2001, Silk Cords officially began their music ministry. Since then, Silk Cords have answered requests to sing at state choral conventions, college gospel fests, church services and theater benefits, as well as gospel and jazz workshops in Chicago, Monmouth, Galesburg, the Quad Cities, Peoria and locations in Iowa.
The ensemble with its
tight harmonies
and sacred lyrics has been compared with the male sound of
"Take Six." a unique and uplifting a cappella vocal jazz
sound. Their repertoire ranges from traditional choral
literature to new arrangements of old hymns. For more information about the artists, visit our About Us page. Home Schedule Reviews Booking Order CD Performance History Contact
